Wow another year has flown by
that is now D Day plus 11

one year ago today I wrote
Quote:
OK that is D Day plus 10

I believe that the worst possible imaginable outcome would have come to fruition if I had not been caught

Any regrets
you better believe it I regret choosing to act out, choosing to destroy
Choosing to be the selfish weak bastard that I was
but some 10 to 10.25 years ago I started my journrney
I chose and achieved life
Do I regret getting caught?
NO

If I had not been caught then I would not have been here where I am
I would have been dead

emotionally if not physically

Margins are fine, decisions are difficult when addiction controls and your whole life seems f*****d up
But we do get to choose

I do not advocate addicts to wait until they are caught
I say catch yourself
open your hearts, minds, horizons
choose recovery

It has been a while since I last posted herein on my thread so a long overdue health check
Life has been continuing with its ensuing CRAP

Covid
bRexit
Anger
Politics
However even with the CRAP, life is so so much better than the one I lived in SHIT

Sex
wHoring
denIal
addicTion

OK I am being frivolous but life does need some fun and today’s world demonstrates the fragility of life in essence and expectancy

I remind myself that life in addiction is not life and that although addiction is no freind it is not the real enemy either, the real enemy is the addict, myself, ourselves
I believe in recovery and I believe that this world will recover, it will take time and effort, meanwhile I will continue to strive to be the best that I can be, i.e. not my own worst enemy as I was when I started this incredible journey

I was listenig to Celene dion and these lyrics very humbly reminded me of the part that my best friend , my ex played in my recovery

Quote:
'Cause I'm your lady
And you are my man
Whenever you reach for me
I'll do all that I can

Lost is how I'm feeling lying in your arms
When the world outside's too much to take
That all ends when I'm with you
Even though there may be times
It seems I'm far away
Never wonder where I am
'Cause I am always by your side

We're heading for something
Somewhere I've never been
Sometimes I am frightened
But I'm ready to learn
Of the power of love

We met fell in love and married then I almost destroyed her with the secret, selfish destructive choices that I made
For sure I used “compartmentalisation “ as an excuse
I denied that my actions were wrong never mind being evil
I was that T**T

Can I ever truly make ammends?
My pledge to myself and to her is
I can and will die trying to

I have journied far and am so much better for that , but my jourey continues...........
IN HEALTH

Quote:
I'll do all that I can

lifted from Dan's thread

Quote:
Also, more on living the life that you want. That's what recovery is.

prompted the following

Anybody can stop acting out

recovery , the essence of RN and other similar platforms, is to provide the wherewithall to ensure that we do not return to acting out or any other unhealthy compulsive behaviours, (polyaddiction) thats the part that needs total commitment
