( this is my second time around thro the lessons..last was 5 years ago...and have slipped.my thead is in private forum)

Quite a bit on goal setting and exercises in this lesson.
A realisation that i have been extremely bad at setting goals..in fact consciously never considered setting goals as an important thing.Always Transactional and going from one thing to another .extremely successful at a start of something new and then taper off in long run.

A sort of realisation that in essence ,that is the manifestation of my addiction..The inability or refusal to set objectives /goals .
Because i have something a lot more simpler at hand..compulsive behaviour and addiction to immediate gratification .

so my new worry(?)
How am i going to to go thro recovery when a lot of it..is goal based ..when inability /refusal to set goals itself is a more than small effect of my manifestation.

a bit of the chicken and egg...
I will work thro this ..but wanted tos ee if there are some reactions to this thinking.

Perhaps you felt that you had beat the addiction and had progressed to the point where your desires no longer held any influence over you. In that, you no longer felt the need to set and keep goals related to your recovery and that's where the slips began to appear, masked in a confidence of having gone so long with no issues.

All the best in putting forth the work needed to get back on track.

coach,

sorry i missed this post in response to mine.
Thanks..yes it is all about forgetting the goals and values.need to understand that these recovery goals and values are new things in my life but the compulsive behaviours have taken root over a very long time, so they lurk.

recovery for me ( and i have to realise that ) is a life long thingamajig..not something at a point in time, with a start and an end.

thanks again.

"every journey starts with that first step"
set small short term achievable goals, then analyse how the achievement adds to your esteem
then stretch a little then a little more
make setting and achieving a healthy habit

perhaps consider stopping the negativity as this easily leads to making excuses and for addicts any excuse is a good excuse

Yes . . .the big goals seem to be easy if the small goals are established and kept . . .one step at a time seems to work the best.

thanks
