1) I have been going through the motions and making a semi-commitment to change passively and it has not gotten me far. I am probably the closest I have ever been to rock-bottom but that also is not the right motivation for change. I am committing to changing these behaviors not for anyone else but because I want to be a better person. I want to be the father/husband that I fantasize about and not the sex/porn addict always looking for the next cheap thrill.
2) This will be extremely difficult for me to overcome because I am full of guilt and shame about my actions. I have done unforgivable things that looking back I can’t believe I even did but at the time it was the most normal thing. I know that getting rid of this addiction will be like cutting a piece of who I think I am out of me and I am scared to death about that.
3) I have a very busy job and two little kids at home but with that being said my recovery is the most important thing to me. I have allowed my addiction to be the biggest priority in my life even over my unborn child’s health and my own happiness and many other things. On that token, recovery should be just as big of a priority while also making sure not to neglect my family and job in the way I had been.
1. A healthy and growing relationship with God
2. An honest and transparent relationship with my wife
3. Be a role model for my children
4. Focus and clarity in my job
5. Ability to look in the mirror and smile
6. Overcome other negative behaviors
7. Reconnect with my siblings and parents
8. Break the stress cycle
9. Maximize time with family and reprioritize work time
10. Reprogram my brain to positive thoughts
11. Free my kids from the addiction cycle
12. Teach others how to be free using my own example
C. This last exercise was an extremely moving experience for me. It seemed so simple and easy at first to just look at a picture of myself as a child. I expected a little sadness and maybe even a tear or two but the absolute broken self that emerged rocked my world and caused me to put this lesson on pause for several weeks. I have not believed that any innocence or goodness was left inside this shell of a man I have made and that experience opened my eyes. I look forward to moving forward in these lessons with as much help as I can get!

That's fair, but I do know that many have come here for the same reason and their reasons for change have evolved to healthier ones. It's also addressed in the lessons later.. so for now, lets take whatever we can get and use that energy for good. So, welcome to RN and your journey to health.
The circumstances which bring you here may indeed be unique, but the path you will take to recover from them is not. What am I saying? You’re not alone and recovery is possible.
Your firm commitment to your life beyond addiction will make all the difference—don’t forget that it is your choice. So if health is what you want, then commit to yourself with conviction and complete the exercises with absolute honesty. The path is long and hard, but it has been done countless times before you.
Although we recommend completing around 3 lessons a week, we encourage you to read or post daily. That being said, recovery is not a race and it’s important to go a pace with which your body and mind can safely handle—many believe recovery to be a journey, not a destination.
If you find yourself challenged or have questions with one of the lessons, utilize the help forum as help is readily available.
Coaches and Mentors are likely to drop by occasionally. If they don’t, no worries, it’s generally a good sign that you’re on the right path.
