Hi W
and welcome to RN

Quote:
I've been trying to recover from porn addiction for around three years now and I can't say that I've ever truly felt committed

Sorry but for sure you have not been committed, that is self evident, why not would be a great question to ask and answer yourself

if you really do want to improve your life and remove those self inflicted shackles of addiction and to recover from your emotion driven compulsive behaviours then you are at a good place to make that a reality, RN can show you the way
To achieve recovery then commit , fully and completely
work through the lessons and understand them , if you miss something ask on the help forum , assistance is always on hand, this community is supportive to those who demonstrate sincerity in their journey
coaches and mentors are likely to drop by occasionally but if not, don't worry as this is generally a good indicator that you are on the right path, you have not been abandoned

the path is long and difficult but it is well proven and you are not alone, many have taken the path sucessfully, your actions are yours but you are not the first and unfortunately will not be the last
we usually suggest completing about 3 lessons a week but spending time every day posting , reading, evaluating and putting into practice what you have learned, be open be honest, nobody here will judge you
get to know your addiction and see yourself with honesty and openness

remember to work at your own pace and its not a race indeed some consider recovery to be a journey rather than a destination

remember the only person that can make these changes is you, so the hard work needs to come from you
looking forwards to reading your posts and wishing you all the best

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply and making me feel welcome Coach Kenzo. I have taken your words on board and will commit wholeheartedly to this workshop and in turn to recovering from this addiction.

Hi WW,

I am interested to note that “honesty” did not make your final 15? They are your values and this is your recovery but perhaps just reflect on these values being able to guide you to a healthy life for the rest of your life. The 15 that make this list need to cover all situations (sexual or otherwise). The choice is yours though and if you remain happy that does not make the list then that is your choice.

Thanks for the feedback learningtorun and it's certainly true that honesty is an important value to have but I feel a couple of my other values compensate for it. Specifically, the values 'sharing my true self with the world around me' and also 'vulnerability' to a lesser extent. I don't think I'll ever be 100% sure on the whittled down list but right now I'm fine with it.

hello WW
Quote:
My commitment is starting to wane and

I feel that the recovery hasn't properly started yet.

do you see the connection?
the two statements are directly interconnected

Quote:
this is mostly down to the number of lessons I've still got left to do[/quote
what's the hurry? you have a whole lifetime in front of you
however
Quote:
I just want to feel like the amount of time I put into this workshop is going to result in something positive.

remember and reflect upon the amount of time that you have chosen to waste feeding your addiction, that really gave you something positive

Quote:
I suppose the real commitment should be recovering and actually living a healthy life. But this will stem from doing the lessons with passion and sincerity which is something that's missing at the moment. I'm instead doing just enough to get by and not much more than that.

EUREKA
so what next? what are you going to choose to do?
Recovery or a lifetime of addiction seems to be a no brainier
Choose and commit
The jury is out

choose wisely!

Thanks so much for the reply Kenzo and you're completely right about everything! I've been a little confused with myself and I needed somebody to bring me back around so thank you. I choose to commit to recovery.
