I have had several relapses since I last posted. How do i get to a place where I am sincere about changing and disciplined enough to try

Momentum

these skills and many others that you need to build would not just happen overnight, they will grow incrementally,

:g: I feel like this is a little poem now, haha! But something that came up for me about what you shared Ursula, is that its also key to create & sustain momentum in your recovery. Just as important is creating and sustaining momentum in your value. Each can be developed, have areas for growth, and have its strengths. But I've noticed one thing that has caused past relapses in the past for me has been this, the lack of sustaining forward momentum in pushing myself to grow in an ever continuing process it seems. For when I stop the motions of my values flowing and growing, and fall back into perhaps comfortable patterns (the detract from my values/vision), it generally decreases my motivations and gets me in a stuck state because I am not in congruence with my emerging value system, which probably means I'm getting off track. It ain't the worst thing or anything, but its definitely something to be aware of. So I encourage to do little things each day, each moment, that are steps towards your values and vision, that create a sense of following through that makes you feel in your heart and intuition its positive steps towards your realization of your values. And keep building that incrementally. When it does fall away, the momentum, make sincere effort to rebuild and create it again, however that may be. So, like Ursula said, it may be doing a lesson a day on here, doing 15 min a day of recovery work, exercising 10 min a day, giving a flower to a stranger each week, whatever - whatever it is for you that builds you up in a genuine sense of fullness. Definitely momentum is lost when we relapse, or it may have never been built or sustained properly. What I'm describing here is complacency, as i understand it, basically meaning when we lose that drive, that momentum (its been a hard concept to wrap my mind around, others please chime in too!). And it might not always be about adding more things to your life, it might be taking things out of your life. Of course, replacing compulsive behaviors with healthy values based behavior is the key there.
