I have been working on the couples lessons as well as the partners ones. Everytime my spouse is given an assignment where he needs to go out of his way to do something for me he never compleats it. Is this a sign that I should just give up? He shows me love and affection otherwise. He just obviously has no care or respect for me. It makes me feel so lonely. I can't see our relationship surviving if I continue to feel this way.

Rainiegirl, I am so sorry. Honest to god I can not believe how often we have to call on some internal strength just to get through the day. Is he able in any way to acknowledge or explain what is going on? I guess this is one of those times that the lessons talk about compomising our values. You say he shows love and affection in other ways, so I guess it is a question of whether that is good enough or not for now.

I know that any slip or any change for the worse (and I am still very early in the process with my husband) fills me with anxiety. I'm really, really starting to get how we have to disengage from their addiction and realize we will be okay no matter what they do. I'm not there yet! My goal is to heal, to get back my life, to believe in myself, to experience joy again, and that will lead to more peace, confidence and clarity so I will feel better about my boundaries and decisions I will make in the future about what to do about my husband.

When I don't know what to do I am getting comfortable just muddling along.

Thinking of you,
dnell
